Renzo Piano, is also known as the master of design especially museums. He has designed more than twenty of which fourteen are only in America. His approach to design is a rough road of many years of designing ideas into ones head and being built in reality. He bases his construction in recognition and construction. In his designs, he portrays the art of living and even staying together. His philosophy is based on postmodernism and high-tech. According to him, when one is designing a building to construct, one starts from a general philosophy and start it detail after detail as one rises up. His architectural designs were based on art. One should enjoy art for them to be abstracted by the wonders of the designs that may be made up of silence, contemplation and even silence. His philosophy is to build a shelter where one is also able to relate to art and a natural setting. His art buildings are a collection of building techniques which starts but implosion and eventually ends in explosion. Sketching is basic and further improvements might be adjusted to when the building comes up during its construction.
He had a plan where the Busch-Reisnger Museum, Fogg Museum, the Arthur M. Sackler Museum and Harvard Museum were all under the same structure. According to his plan, it was meant for a common ground floor that was public to everyone, thus connecting the community. On top of that, Renzo Piano believes that the city is under ones skin. According to him, cities are those places where buildings are able to communicate with each other. Its about life that is civil and accessibility. AS he plans his designs, he keeps in mind that a building should be able to talk to people and to the city and even share experiences. They are supposed to share life and even enjoy it. For that matter most of his designs are connected to the environment; where he considers nature a first priority among his designs. Another example of his great designs is the New York Times Building that is very sustainable as it is designed as a green structure. It has a shading system and a wall whose curtain is double skinned. It has a dimmable Lighting system which is a design used for harvesting light from the sun for light, and an air distributor which is under floor which produces quality indoor air and saves energy as well as thermal comfort. The building also has cogeneration on site that distributes power that is generated naturally. Eventually, the energy is converted to water that is hot. His designs promote sustainability as they are displayed in the final structures. Despite that fact, he still maintains the cultural aspect of the building that he designs in order for the people to interact with the feeling created around it. The approach design is based on the use of models that are physical in nature and mock-up scales that are one-on-one which help in the testing of the concepts that have been designed. This is what makes his buildings famous and even given him many awards and recognitions one of them being Nobel price of architecture.
