DESCRIPTION OF THE CHILD SETTING AND PROBLEM DESCRIPTION
Jacob is an eight-year-old boy who has caused many problems to both his parents and also his teachers in school. Jacob is just a primary school student. Jacob has a twin brother and also four siblings. In this case study, Jacob is one who is much affected by this attention-deficit disease. Describing the problem which hyperactivity disorder, it's a disease that mainly occurs in children at the adolescent stage. The disorder according to Susan does not affect only the person but also the people around him or her. (Bentham, 2002).
ANALYSIS OF THE CASE STUDY
According to the case study, Jacob's disorder has caused many worries to both his parents and also his teachers in school. According to Jacobs's teachers, Jacob had many interacting problems; this is because he was not social at all, and he usually outcasted himself and mostly stayed alone. According to Bentham social interaction improves oneself-confidence. (Bentham, 2002). Some of the educational problems that Jacob faced according to the case study are; lack of concentration in class, poor memory, poor performance in his homework, and also poor listening skills. The problems observed by his teachers who had a hard time dealing with Jacobs situation while Jacobs twin brother was more good, and also he performed well both in school and also at home, and this made Jacobs parents more confused and decided to seek help from psychologists.
The case study summarizes the importance of psychology education and also how one can deal with a situation similar to Jacobs. According to Adam, a healthy child is well aspired by his or her parents (Adams, n.d.).Jacob's other problem was working memory problem, Jacob had a poor memory, he rarely finished his homework, and sometimes he even forgets what he taught or what assignment given. The only thing that Jacob remembered was his computer; he was so much on his computer that most of the time he spent on his computer. According to Bruce and David a child's mind is well set from his or her background Bruce (Tuckman, David Monetti 2010) Jacob's parents made the computer more available to Jacob, and that made him more attracted to it and began to forget about the books.
INTERVENTIONS AND STRATEGIES
Jacob's parents began to seek advice from professionals that is including psychologists and also doctors. Jacob's situation was worse because he started to be violent to his peers and also classmates. And from the psychologist, they were recommended that Jacob should keep away from the computer. And also they were told that Jacob's situation was not a sickness but a disorder that will soon change if they follow all the recommendations. According to David and Bruce, a behavior becomes an illness when it is accepted (Bruce Tuckman, David Monetti 2010). The primary target for this was those wealthy parents who give their children everything they want. The psychologist recommended that Jacob should not be treated more special to other siblings, they are all supposed to treated the same
STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESSES
In conclusion, the case study has both weaknesses and also strengths. Beginning with the forces the case study has helped to get more information about symptoms of the hyperactivity disorder and also helps. To know the best interventions and also strategies to follow if your child has a similar situation like Jacobs .according to Rao prevention is better than treatment ( S.N. Rao 2002). The weaknesses of the case study are that some of the recommendations only help the rich people, the poor child from the poor family will not get enough help from this. Another weakness is that the disorder is not common, so not many people will take into consideration the recommendations offered. According to Peter and Antony, the difference between the rich to the poor determined by the poor decisions that made people themselves (Peter K. Smith, Anthony D. Pellegrini 2000)
