Sleep is a process that is extremely important to humans health. When people have insufficient sleep, they may have a lot of difficulties performing their everyday functions. The first problem is that when a person does not have enough sleep at night, he or she loses the ability to concentrate and does not fulfill the tasks properly because of the sense of sleepiness. Moreover, sleepiness may lead to accidents while driving a car and to different injuries if the work is associated with various technical operations. Another side effect of sleepiness is the possibility to experience chronic ailments such as diabetes, high blood pressure, vascular diseases and even depression and stress. The reason why people suffer from sleepiness or do not have the ability to fall asleep is sleep disorders.

Sleep disorder is a kind of physical or psychological condition that occurs when people are not able to fall asleep easily or have some problems with mechanisms of sleep. National Sleep Foundation states that more than 40 million of Americans have sleep problems and the main half of them (about 62%) has serious sleep disorders (Talk About Sleep, 2014). Most of the people have occasional or regular sleep disorders that are provoked by stress or different external factors. Sleep is an indicator of humans health. It affects peoples mood, energy rate, and the possibility to manage with stress. So, it is very important to know that normal sleep is an essential necessity that should be always under control.

There are many types of sleep disorders. The most common of them are insomnia and sleep apnea. Insomnia is the process that is characterized by the inability to have enough sleep at night in order to feel cheerful and have enough rest for leading an energetic way of life. It is a kind of sleep disorder that has unfavorable consequences. Insomnia can cause irritation, lack of energy, depression, and constant sleepiness.

As for sleep apnea, it is a kind of disorder that has such symptoms: snoring that is interrupted several times during the sleep by the stop of breathing because of the blockage of upper respiratory tracks. This problem is typical for people with excess weight. The researchers estimate that 5 in 100 people can suffer from this disorder and their breath can stop more than once at night from 15 seconds to some minutes. If sleep apnea is not treated, it can lead to serious health problems as heart attacks, vascular problems, and hypertension. Some people do not take this problem seriously. Sometimes, they do not even mention it because they do not remember what have happened at night. People may only feel exhausted all day long and their productivity will decrease considerably. Nevertheless, sleep apnea constitutes a threat to humans life (Lubit, 2015). Nowadays it is treated easily with the help of Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP therapy). During this therapy, the patient while sleeping has to wear a mask that delivers the air flow when the person suffers from the stop of breathing. This method can create some inconveniences, but it will certainly save humans life. CPAP will improve peoples health and support the well-being because it increases the normal sleep time that eliminates tiredness, low concentration, and sleepiness. People can feel alert and refreshed all day long due to this therapy. In addition to this, it affects greatly peoples emotions, changes the quality of life and protect from stress and depressions.

To sum up, the lack of sleep and various disorders affect considerably our life because they can become the reason of different health problems, emotional problems and cause damage to our well-being. Moreover, they can constitute a threat to our life. So, people should take them seriously and treat them as soon as possible.
