The proponent of this study incorporated the section entitled Research Design and Methodology for the purpose of understanding the progress of the study for future use and to facilitate the flow of discussion. A study on the significant challenges encountered by Title 1 institutions and its correlation to social issues like low-income households and diversity of culture was initiated using the Triangulation Methodology. Triangulation is a research approach typically utilized by qualitative researchers to determine the validity of their study by exploring the research questions using multiple perspectives to establish consistency of resources and approaches used (Patton).
The triangulation research design is applied varying the different steps in addressing the formulated research questions. Specifically, since the study is designed to review the proposed solutions to the identified challenges which also benefits from using the triangulation design of research, taking advantage of the different research methodologies like casual-comparative research, and ethnographic research. For the proposal of recommendation to address the issue, the proponent will consolidate findings from various research methodologies including analysis of action research, group interviews, observation, and possible quantitative survey.
Plan of Action
There are several steps to be undertaken to facilitate the course of the study. Initially, the proposal aims to identify the institutions classified as Title 1 Institutions. For this, the proponent would conduct library and online research particularly generated from the Department of Education in the state of New Jersey. The second objective of the research is to identify the challenges experienced by the different Title I institutions. These challenges can be identified through a case study of limited information are available that will address this concern. A comparative analysis will be institutionalized to establish the challenges that are commonly experienced for the purpose of prioritization CITATION Gub09 \l 1033 (Gubrium and Holstein). Another goal of the research is to establish the correlation of social issues to the identified institutions. The proponent will identify how cultural diversity and low-income households working within the different Title 1 institution affects performance and productivity by enumerating the different outcomes varying the different institutions. Finally, to identify and evaluate the efforts exerted by the state to address the challenges encountered by Title 1 Institutions, the proponent will explain the patterns of behavior, beliefs, and values shared by the community.
Research Methodology for Data Collection for Research and Applied Projects
Considering the direction and objectives stated to address the research, the proponent will concentrate on using the triangulation technique to facilitate the study. Several perspectives will be applied varying the four objectives of the study. For the first objective, the proponent will use qualitative research conducted using library and online research. Data, the complete updated list of Title 1 schools, will be generated from the Department of Education website. At the same time, the second objective which relates to the challenges encountered by the identified institutions will be addressed through a case study methodology considering that limited information are usually available relating to this topic. On the other hand, to establish the correlation of social issues with Title 1 institutions and to draw an institutionalized data that would validate the results, a causal-comparative, and descriptive analysis will be taking place. In addition, to review the actions initiated by the state regarding the identified issues and challenges the proponent will conduct an ethnographic research that would concentrate on the selected population while focusing specifically on the patterns of behavior, beliefs, and values shared by the community CITATION Wes08 \l 1033 (Westbrook). Finally, in proposing for the recommendation the proponent will consolidate findings from various research methodologies including analysis of action research, group interviews, observation, and possible quantitative survey. The consolidated output will be evaluated to determine the most appropriate plan of action or strategy to address the issue CITATION Woo11 \l 1033 (Woodcock).
In conclusion, the use of the triangulation research design will help strengthen the recommendation for the proposed social problem. Furthermore, this research design will help the proponent to draw out significant findings from previous studies which can help strengthen the proposed solution, while at the same time establishing the validity of the proposed researchs findings.
