The ability to superimpose the real world in a digital simulation is one of the most extraordinary applications of art, science, and technology. Video games are entertaining, challenging and vastly influential. Studies indicate that playing video games has several effects on the psychology and physiology of gamers (Dai & Fry 1). Gamers that enjoy action games exhibit violent tendencies and more aggressive interaction with other people. The playing of video games also has a positive influence on the development of different people. For instance, the continued playing of race games presents gamers a sample simulation of a real driving experience. Studies indicate that the continued playing of games like Need for Speed and Grand Turismo often makes for better-equipped drivers.
Some of the most interesting research indicate that there is value in examining the link between visuomotor control and gaming. This two discipline ultimately explain the impact that certain games can have on the motor skills of an individual. Driving, for instance, is one of the simplest and practical examples of the impact of gaming on the motor skills of the driver. In a study to examine this phenomenon, drivers with varying experience in video gaming were placed in real life driving situations. Some people playing video games in the United States satisfy the minimum sample population for some different tests. One of the most important functions of games is passing on important education. Educational video games often spark the intellectual part of gamers. As more persons play games, their cognitive skills sharpen. They can understand complex situations under pressure and in a limited time frame. These skills ultimately improve their motor control.
Some of the methods that the development of sensitive motor coordination is achieved through video games are the requirement that all players follow a set of distinct rules. In every game, there are challenges that are to be overcome (Dai & Fry 1). Gamers are required to understand the rules of the game and observe them in solving the problems in a digital world. Moreover, the use of rules creates an advanced sensitivity to strategy, anticipation, resource management, pattern recognition, and mapping among many other skills. Gamers often find themselves susceptible to noticing small changes and notches in the game (Dai & Fry 1).
Consequently, the often have to continually improve their skills as far as multi-tasking, build a deep sense of muscle memory and motor coordination. Additionally, the application of the principles that are learned in gaming often makes for valuable competencies in the real world. In the digital world, players take an active role in determining the ergonomics of the digital world. Unlike other forms of visual media, video games ensure that the players interacting in a digital space have an incentive to achieve something from their interaction in such a space (Dai & Fry 1).
Still, there are some effects like addiction to video games that make the industry subject of much discussions. Studies still show that gamers are likely to exhibit violent tendencies when it comes to social interaction. Still, the benefits all aim towards advancing the skills that are critical for having an active psychological, and physiological temperament makes for better drivers, safer interaction with difficult and uncomfortable situations and proactive approach towards problem-solving. These skills more, than any other are a direct result of motor function and coordination. Regulation of the types of games and how much time gamers spend on the video games (Dai & Fry 1).
