Through these applications, clients can book for tickets without physically visiting the premise. Secondly, the company has developed an effective web page that is accessible to all computer devices and phones that can access the internet effectively. According to Nawaz et al. (2015), delta.com is one of the websites that are easy to access. The page provides customers with the available routes, prices per route and the time such flights occur. Lastly, the management has developed effective social media sites that target all customers. For example, blog.delta.com, twitter.com/delta, and facebook.com/delta provide the customer with easy access to the information that pertains the company. Lastly, the management has put a plan to install Wi-Fi, of which when done; customers will be exposed to Wi-Fi in flights particularly 800 international and 3000 domestic flights daily
Technical efficient firms are defined as those that maximize on outputs while using minimum inputs and efforts such as capital, labor, and technology. Specifically, the implementations of the above wireless and mobile technologies are very efficient. According to the companys report, the number of customers who utilizes online booking is much more than those who physically visit the premises. As such the technological advancement in the company had made more profits as compared to the time when these devices were absent. Additionally, the rate at which the firms expand its wireless and mobile technologies proves it does not face economic constraints. For example, the company only uses about 2 billion to set all the delta tech which is less than the profit the company makes per year. As such, the decision to implement the wireless and mobile technologies effective since it provides more customer base which increases the productivity of the firm (Agrawal & Zeng, 2015).
Another company that has adopted wireless and mobile technologies are Wal-Mart. Wal-Mart is the worlds largest retailer with approximately $500billion sales annually and employs 1.3 million associates. It has got very many stores in the United States with highly increasing grocery markets termed as neighborhood markets. Due to the competitive market and threats of new entrants, the company always looks for new developments to make it unique from the competitors. Specifically, the company has developed effective wireless and mobile technologies that serve clients across the country (Amit & Zott, 2012).
Wal-Marts technology is split into two which include Wal-Mart technology that is situated in Bentonville which focuses on developing and managing technology and Global Commerce that is situated in the Silicon Valley. The purpose of the latter is to develop and run the e-commerce technologies and sites respectively. An example is this weeks new application that was rolled out by the firm. The new application that is called the Savings Catcher was tested in a total of seven markets. According to the company, more than sixty-five percent of their customers possess smartphones. Among these, half of them use these devices to assist in shopping (Agrawal & Zeng, 2015). Customers use this application using the following procedure. After entering the receipt number, the application compares the purchased items by local retailers in the weekly print advertisements. If the item is available anywhere else, a gift card is presented to the customer while showing the difference.
Additionally, the company has developed several apps for phones such Android to enable customers browse the prices of items and know specifically where they can be found. According to the CEO, not all the store and branches have the same items since they target the customers (Amit & Zott, 2012). Therefore, it is of great importance for the customers to know where such items are with their exact prices. Therefore, apps such as Wal-Mart labs have been developed.
Comparison of the Two FirmsAccording to the above scenarios, Delta uses more wireless technology more strategically than Wal-Mart. This is because most of the target customers of the Delta are people who are well conversant with these technologies than the Wal-Marts customers. Additionally, Delta has several applications in almost all operating system such as iPhone, Windows phones, and Android. As such delta is more strategic since it targets all customers irrespective of the device they use.
