Discuss TWO societal trends that you think are influencing childrens dietary habits

One of the social trends that influence childrens dietary habits is advertisements on the Television, Radios, and social media. In most cases, the adverts are intended to woo the customers, and that time the advertisement is made, no side effects are mentioned (Hulshof et al., 2003). In fact, they only show the advantages of the food in question. Moreover, the design and the color used in those adverts portray delicacy that influences children to look for such diets. Notably, children will force their parents to have a taste of such kind of food or will sneak and get them from the shops (Hulshof et al., 2003). On the same note, parents have also been deceived with the same adverts, especially when children used in such advertisement are healthy and happy. Therefore, advertisements that have been brought by the technological advancement have influenced the eating habits of young people.

Another societal trend that affects children eating pattern is peer pressure. According to the study conducted by Schlosser (2012), most young people take what their peers eat. According to that research, the author says that the reason food influenced by peers is to help them find their position in the society. In most cases, children want to be like their companions in the society. Therefore, when they realize that their peers are taking a certain type of food; they also look for ways to have that particular food.
