The linkage of the theoretical framework to the practical segment of the nursing profession is very much relevant to ensuring that quality results are delivered. Within this line of occupation, many viable theories work differently for different people. The intellectual underpinning that I choose to guide my practice is the Need Theory developed by Virginia Henderson. Regarding her credibility, Henderson is a household name in the nursing profession where she has managed to accomplish a lot both theoretically and practically. The need theory functions by understanding the most fundamental aspects of nursing in the first place. The optimal goal and obligation of every nurse within the health care community are to help people achieve their desired end results in a much peaceful way. This theory that I have chosen to guide my practice requires an established nurse to be able to identify the ideal needs of a patient before moving ahead to deal with the patient. As normal human being, patients do have different needs; thus, they cannot be categorized together in the name of healthcare service provision. Identifying individual needs as per the requirements of the theory mandates a professional to bond on a personal level with the patient, an aspect that I deem perfect for achieving efficiency in the entire health care community. With nurses playing an imperative role in the patient recovery phenomenon, I confer my practicum guidance on the need theory by Henderson (Ahtisham & Jacoline, 2015).

Goals and Objectives of my Practicum Experience

For efficiency and effectiveness to be a sure thing in the nursing world, every profession needs to work under the guide-ship of personal goals and objectives. That bases on some theoretical researches that have already been carried out emphasizing on the need for having personal motivators as the foundation of quality service delivery as depicted below (Roussel, n.d).

To gain the much-needed confidence and acquire credible experience from collaboratively working with other accomplished professionals.

To showcase the ability to operate within complex systems and develop the required skills. For instance, the leadership qualities that one needs to have for those specific roles.

To ensure that patients are safe and care of at all times. Based on the provisions of the need theory, my primary objective as part of my practicum experience is to ensure patient safety, an aspect that acts as the main precursor for quality service delivery.

To ensure timely delivery of services pertinent to the requirements of the entire health care system that overrides on this particular principle as a way of ensuring efficiency. As research has it, timely delivery of services benefits the caregiver and most importantly the patient. It is also an indication of a fully functional mechanism put in place to attain quality delivery in healthcare.
