It is my dream, hope, and prayer that I serve my country as an early childhood educator after completing my college education. Most people often look down upon this profession since they do not understand its significance in the society. Something that people fail to understand is the fact that as an early childhood educator, one gets to influence the lives of people early on in their childhood. If he or she fails, people may claim poor parenting and other issues. However, they should look at the kind of schooling the child went through as an infant. That often foretells the future of the child.

I wish to work in a public elementary school that utilizes dual immersion strategies so that I can teach Spanish as a second language. Through dual immersion, I would be able to develop bilingualism skills in my students, enforce academic achievement and teach cross-cultural competencies. In a nutshell, I will be able to create an all-around student who can fit anywhere in society.

Before deciding on this profession, I investigated it on the grounds of how befitting could it be of me. It is a perfect fit because of some reasons. First, early childhood education should be handled by individuals who love being with children; people who are good at handling and associating with them belong. This is not any brainer; it is some instinctive skill. I am good at associating and handling children; a skill that comes naturally to me; hence it makes me feel like I am destined to be an early childhood educator. I also enjoy working with kids and am always willing to dedicate a huge portion of my time on the job.

I also feel I can easily communicate my thoughts in a manner that is easily understood by other people; particularly children. Though most people find early childhood education to be much easier than teaching adults or teenagers, it surely comes with its set of problems and tough situations that one is likely to face on a daily basis. However, in pursuing a diploma in early childhood education, I have been able to understand the working of young minds and the approaches that are effective to enhance the power to obtain and hold on to knowledge.

Moreover, not many people like this job. Therefore, competition is not an issue when it comes to this occupation. It will allow me to do my job without worry of losing the job at the first mistake. Working at the school, I will have the opportunity to take part in the countless volunteer work in the school. It is my belief that I have the correct set of skills and mindset that will allow me function adequately as an early childhood educator. Given that my passion is along the same lines, I am a good candidate for the job.

Professional Philosophy

Behind every teacher and school is a set of interrelated beliefs; philosophy, that informs how and what the students are taught. These set of beliefs represent the response to the inquisition on the purpose of learning, the role of a teacher as well as the content and methods of teaching. I believe in the behaviorist perspective on teaching and learning. It is the view that works on the principle of response to stimuli. Behaviorists believe that behavior is a result of external stimuli caused by the process of operant conditioning. Therefore, it is possible to explain behavior without considering consciousness or the internal mental states of an individual. Behaviorists posit that a learner is always passive. A student will commence the learning process as a pure state that they call tabula rasa. The learners behavior receives its shape through negative and positive reinforcement (Griffiths, 2014). Negative reinforcement is the withholding of stimuli while the positive one regards the application of stimuli. Both the positive and negative reinforcement increase the possibility that the antecedent behavior will occur. It implies that the resultant behavior can be coaxed to happen again and again by an environment that encourages it (Han, 2014).

As a result, education is the single most robust tool that an individual can own; it involves the transformation of one's behavior. It takes an individual from the filthiest dirtiest slum\ to the top realm; provided one has the urge to work hard. Sometimes, young individuals may tend to fall between the cracks of life; ending up lagging behind in the development curve and feeling like failures and perhaps adopt an increasingly brutal tactic of survival that puts them against the world. However with proper learning techniques, such ill fates may be prevented. For instance, the punishments used in a learning environment may naturally decrease the possibility of a behavior repeating itself if an action transpires and the pupil receives a reward for the effort. However, if the student is punished for a mischievous deed, it is very unlikely that the learner will repeat the same. The behaviorist theory is often despised because it is considered to be purely psychological. The results of the study were only generalizations to the humans (Han, 2014). It is important to understand that it is the strength of the theory because the theory relies on observable behavior. Thus, it is quantifiable making it even easier to understand. Another advantage of this theory is the fact that effective therapeutic techniques can be used to intervene in harmful or maladaptive behaviors. There is thus, no need for punishments when such a theory is the driving force of the teaching staff.

Teaching young children is an undertaking that should not be taken lightly. It involves a couple of frustrations, challenges, and responsibilities. Nonetheless, it is a job that is full of joy, wonder, and excitement. I have a strong belief that every young mind is capable of learning if one is given the proper direction and motivation. As a result, as a teacher, I need to be well conversant with the theories of learning, behavior, motivation and development as they relate to early childhood education so as to interact well with young minds and to push them to realize their potential. In this case, it would be my responsibility to ensure that every child is motivated; as it is only fair to them. Children deserve my full attention and time concerning their education.

Professional Engagement

A learning standard in the early childhood unit concerns the subject areas. The subjects that an infant learns cannot be the same as those of a five-year-old child. For an infant, they should learn how to make contact, communicate and play with each other. Because I will be teaching Spanish, they should learn a first language to make the second language easier to learn. Learning progressions is the second standard in this line of work. The tutors examine the students to learn how they are progressing in the different areas of study. Therefore, the students need to surpass the grade-level standards if he or she is to show progress. Content is the other standard that we must adhere to at all costs. It is an exceptional standard for all levels of education. At early childhood development classes, the contents are primarily essential because it is more of a fundamental building block of a persons life. Here, children learn to communicate in writing as well as speaking. The environment is the best teacher at this level because the infants are allowed to interact freely with each other (Waghid, 2015).

In the light of that, I would like to create a safe learning environment for all children. If they do feel insecure in the classroom, be it physically, socially or emotionally, their defense mechanisms would be amplified, and learning would significantly decline; if not entirely shut down. It is critical to ensure that the young minds I teach, alongside their parents, school administrators and fellow teachers, perceive me as someone who can be easily approached and is fair and just. The organization of a class setting is also an important concept that I would consider when teaching. If the children are introduced to a disorganized class; structured in a manner that inhibits the process of learning, then it would be hard for the children to learn. There is need to establish innovative, new approaches to have the class setting organized and to assist the young minds. I also strongly believe that the content I teach should have some relevance; it should be applicable, meaningful and interesting to young children.

As an early childhood teacher, I am expected to provide relevance to young children; they should be able to relate what they learn in class with what happens in the actual world. This offers them a context within which children may develop into motivated, engaged and self-controlled learners. The concept of relatedness is critical to early childhood education since it allows young children to realize the relevance of the acquired knowledge. In realizing the need for relatedness, making them how ostensibly unrelated materials are interrelated, enabling to develop a scheme of own interpretation, I can easily provide relevance of the learning process to the young minds. As a result, they would realize that what I am teaching is work-knowing and interesting. Failure to which, they would not see the significance of the subject material and hence would not be interested in the learning process. It is also important to uphold a positive attitude and high energy level as they are essential to the establishment of a successful learning context.

Continuous Improvement efforts

Professional development as it related to early childhood education refers to various experiences that support the education, development and training prospects for early childhood teachers who would interact with young children (Early et al, 2007). In essence, in continuing my professional development as an early child hood educator, I would engage in an array of activities that try to increase the skill set, knowledge base, or attitudinal viewpoints brought to bear as I take part in pre-school education or educational support services focused on young children. My ultimate career goal is to advance the acquisition of social-emotional competencies and specialized learning in young children, as well as to endorse essential family-specific abilities or attitudes to promote the learning and development of children. In essence, the desired long term, circuitous results of all initiatives focused on early childhood professional development involve improving the learning process of a child through communicative, cognitive, behavioral and social-emotional domains, and such results are the definitive measure of successful improvement efforts on early childhood professional development.

There are several programs that one can enroll to advance one's career. In my case, I intend to pursue a program in Early Childhood Education, for I love working with kids and would love to influence their lives from the onset. However, learning has never been easy; thus, the need to develop and adhere to a set of strategies with the aim of achieving the set goals. Unfortunately, success does not come without challenges. Hence, there is a need to identify the best ways of overcoming these problems. It is also important to formulate a plan for the jobs that I wish to take up after college; taking into consideration all the concerns that arise the ability to deliver in the early childhood education profession (Kuh, Kinzie, Schuh & Whitt, 2011).

Undertaking a study of special education is a very sensitive and demanding thus requiring both effort and attention. This input requires laid down strategies that are supposed to assist an individual successfully make it through college. First, it is important to attend all classes, for they have a significant impact on the overall grade as well as the quality of service...
