The code of ethics in the field of nursing provides a moral standard and directs the nurses mainly in analyzing moral codes and aids them in making decisions. This code is mainly characterized by not being negotiable. This ethic code comes from the traditions of nursing in the United States. Nursing career involves maintaining and providing a good health care to communities or families without choosing. This ethic code of nursing provides the nurses with the ideals and the values required fully to operate as a nurse. Code of ethics contains provisions accompanied by interpretive statements (American Nurses Association, 2010). The interpretive statements require more revision as compared to the provisions. Some of the tenets of the code of nursing to be discussed in this paper include;1) commitment of the nurses to the patient without choosing whether is a group, family , population, community or a family 2) nurses have the right of responsibility , accountability and being authoritative for his or her job. This is by taking action with the goal of promoting health and providing the required care.
1: Commitment of the nurses to the patient without choosing whether is a group, family, population, community or a family
It is the right of the nurse to serve everyone despite being a family, population or a community. They provide chances to the patients to participate in enforcing and planning support and health care to the patients. Nurses should also be commitment in providing a peaceful environment for the patients. This can be done addressing conflicts that may arise in the nursing profession in a way that provide safety to the patients (Mellish, Oosthuizen, & Paton, 2010). This ethic code enables a nurse to collaborate fully with the patients to build a strong bond between that will encourage improvement of health care sectors. Personally by applying this ethic code has improved my relationship with the patients where they are free and willing to share their illness issues with me. This has also increased the number of patient coming to get treatment.

All the nurses are responsible for offering good nursing care. In every function, nurses are responsible and accountable for the quality of their work (Mellish, Oosthuizen, & Paton, 2010). They are also accountable for the decisions and the judgments they make. This ethic code has motivated me as a nurse to adhere to my role in order to be answerable to the decisions and the judgments make. This has also helped me to maintain a peaceful environment in my work place. To conclude, it is the responsibility of a nurse to maintain and improve the conditions and the health care places with the goal of providing good nursing services.
